Carsphairn Heritage Group started its life with an exhibition of local history in Lagwyne Hall.

By 1987 it was a fully formed group with a collection of family history records, photographs, slides and locally significant artifacts.

The Heritage & Craft Centre was built in 1992 to house the collection, provide space for a yearly exhibition and to provide a focus point for visitors carrying out family research.

The Heritage Group are continuing this evolutionary legacy in 2019 by launching two exciting project.

These projects are a huge undertaking for the Committee and if you'd like to support our work, you can do so in a number of ways:

  • Become a member of the Group. Membership is now only £1 (£5 if you require printed updates) and you will receive quarterly progress reports from the Chair.
  • Purchase our publications. We publish a range of leaflets, booklets and books, the proceeds of which go toward the housing the collection and making it publically avaiable.
  • Make a donation. The Group relies on donations and membership fees to cover our running costs.

In order to allow our documents to be sent away for digitisation, the Centre will not be opening in 2019. However, we will continue to do our best to help with genealogical queries via email.
